The New Normal Festival

Vigan Town Fiesta is a weeklong festival held around 25th of January, the fiesta commemorates the town’s patron saint, St. Paul the Apostle, with a parade, musical performances, beauty contest and cultural show.

The day of the festival for all of the citizens living in Vigan City doesn’t feel like it is the Town Fiesta because of the pandemic happening right now. We all know that town fiestas shouldn’t be celebrated the same as the previous years. The celebration should be simple and only household members are allowed to celebrate in their houses. But this is our culture if we don’t celebrate this it makes our year incomplete because celebrating this festival every year became our tradition. We grew up celebrating this festival and we don’t want it to stop celebrating because of this pandemic.

Once it is part of our culture we will find different ways on celebrating it whether amidst pandemic or not.
